Rick Warren's poor teachings

Here is some more of Rick Warren's false teachings (or at the very least -- poor teachings). We as Christians, must have discernment of what the pastor's are teaching. Don't just take everything that is spoken as being truth. Search Scripture to see for yourself. Do not take the words of a seminary trained pastor as being the gospel truth. Rick Warren is a prime example of this!

Thoughts From Jeff said...

Rick:

I will give you "come and see" because that is a way to translate it ...HOWEVER ...

Come and see Jesus. It's not an invitation to observe Jesus from afar. Rather, it's the call to share in his sufferings, to entrust one's whole life to the promise that this one is the Messiah, the Savior of the world. Come and see Jesus is the invitation to live by faith and to be turned toward our neighbor. It's the invitation to come and die, to lay down one's life for the sake of the gospel and the neighbor.

Rick, I agree in part with what Jeff said. I don't agree with the come and see. That is not in the Scripture. The term "follow" has a completely different meaning in Scripture than to come and see (which is what jeff is referring to). There is a danger when we take Scripture and apply "new" meaning to the words. to follow is to "be joined with" "to be discipled" and to "be a partner with." To "see" is like Jeff said, it is just a visual watching from afar. That is not at all the intent of what the Scripture is saying. If people only have the idea that all they have to do is "watch" what Jesus did, then there will be no need to put their trust and faith in Him to save them. They might "see" Him die on the cross, but without knowledge, it will be meaningless to them. The Greek word is akoloutheĊ. 1) to follow one who precedes, join him as his attendant, accompany him

2) to join one as a disciple, become or be his disciple

a) side with his party
it literally means to "follow."
91 times this word is used and it mean "follow" in every instance! The only other time that akoloutheĊ is used is in Rev 18:5 and it means "reached." her sins followed her to heaven, or her sins reached up to heaven.

This is why it is so very important to listen to what the pastor's are teaching out there. Rick Warren is leading many people away by his changing of the Scriptures!
