How not to do a bible study! UPDATE!

I see so many bible studies that are offered at churches these days, I wanted to kind of spoof them, just a little!
Question number one...
How is the absolute silliness of this video similar to our own likeness in the mirror of life?

Question number two...
How is the bat ladder going down similar to Jesus coming to earth?
Question number three...
How is the bat shark repellent spray like us when we repent of our sins?
Question number four...
How is the shark blowing up similar to how we feel when we become new creatures?

Question number five...
The bomb is representative of our sinful nature and it is about to blow up on us. What does the Bible say we should do with "our bomb?"
Question number six...
The two nuns represent fasting and tithing, how are the two inseparable?
Question number seven...
The two band members playing represent how we should worship God, in what ways does the music influence you biblically?
Question number eight...
The person with the stroller and the little baby is much like our walk with Christ, how do we grow with Him?
Question number nine...
The lovebirds in the boat are displaying what kind of love found in the Bible?
Question number ten...
The little ducks represent all of humanity, how are we to float in the sea of life?

Sounds crazy doesn't it? But unfortunately there are churches out there that actually teach this kind of stuff. They take a movie and make a whole Bible study on it.
Starting tomorrow, Feb 17, I will be posting results from a weekly Bible study on another blog. You can see it up near the top of this blog titled, Open the Bible. Every Sunday evening, you will see the results of a verse by verse study from the Bible. If you would like to join in, please send me an email and I will include you in our mailings!! I hope the humor of Batman and Robin from my days as a child (1966!) were humorous for you and brightened your day on total silliness. I hope the real Bible study will bless you and edify you!

This is excellent. Would you mind if I recommend this to my group? We love batman movies! Although I think you take on the shark repellent being like repentance is wrong. I think that the shark repellent most closely reflects how we as Christians always have everything that we need and are never lacking anything. Just like how Batman coincidently happened to have a bottle of shark repellent on his belt.

absolutely!
another view on the shark repellent is this...

God equips us when Satan is nipping at our heels!!

Yes churches are trying to compete with an entertainment crazed society so they do crazy stuff like that.

Wow pastor brian! I never knew 1 Cor 10:13 was referring to bat shark repellent! Thank you!

Yep! leave it to Batman!

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

doesn't that just go to show how crazy some Bible studies can be??

I see in the clip that he also had Bat Stingray repellant. Do you suppose he uses that when he see's a kid riding his bike?
