my son was just taken to the hospital. I am at work and will be getting off soon. They think he has some kind of pancreatitis. if you know anything about this, please let me know. I just ask that you all keep him in your prayers. His name is David Culver!
thank you all and God bless you for your prayers
Brother,
ReplyDeleteI am praying for ya'lls peace through this ordeal.
Here is what I know about pancreatitis (I am a respiratory therapist, 20+ years)...
It is an inflammation of the pancreas. It is commonly caused by blockages of the bile ducts from the liver and gall bladder since the head of pancreas is surrounded by the gall bladder. Alcoholism is also a known contributor but so is chronic medication use. The inflammation throws off the endocrine production of the pancreas and therfore the sugar regulating efforts (insulin is produced by the pancreas). A body wide systemic inflammatory response is not uncommon and indeed can lead to other serious complications such as coma, kidney insuffiency and/or failure, respiratory insuffiency and/or failure, cardiac insuffiency and/or failure, and in late diagnosis/treatment...even death.
However, assuming a young age for your son, with an early diagnosis and treatment, as seems the case from your brief description, recovery is quite often the case.
You can expect for your son to undergo a procedure to open the bile ducts thereby relieving pressure on the head of the pancreas.
Though my description is scary to read, please do not be discouraged. Prognosis are usually very good depending on age and usual state of health and social dysfunctions (or rather lack of).
Stay before the throne of God, rely on His strength, weep on His shoulder, and be peaceful with your son.
In His Word,
Scott
P.S.
It is often the case that in circumstances such as these someone not in your family will be watching and hence be open to the gospel. I pray you will notice such a moment as it will be ordained by God. Romans 8:28
Prayers going up.........
ReplyDeleteThis can be serious......my wife was in bad shape with this about 5 years ago.......
Keep us posted
After reading Scott's post I remember that my wife's gall bladder was to blame for the pancreatis problem.
ReplyDeleteIt was kind of a domino effect......The doctor told us that once the pancreas gets upset, it tends to make other organs upset. But, the first cause was the gall bladder problem.
My wife had the gall bladder removed and has never had another problem.
Still praying for you
Hey brother,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that you and your kin are going through this ordeal. I pray that God's will be done and that it would be a full and complete return to health.
God bless,
Bob (Maryland)
