You say you believe in Jesus.
Good!
The Devil believes in Jesus and trembles...
what's the difference?
If a man says, "I believe in Jesus, therefore, I am saved."
How is that different from the Devil believing in Jesus?
If a man tells God that, "Yes, I am a sinner and I believe in Jesus."
How is that different from Satan who is king of the sinners and also believes in Jesus?
Do you know the difference?
Thanks to God, I do!
ReplyDeleteI like the Amplified Bible's take on the word 'believe' in John 3:16
ReplyDelete'so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on)Him shall not perish ...'
The only belief in Jesus that will reconcile you with God is to rely on the fact that that there is no other way of being cleansed of sin (and hence avoid the penalty of death and permanent separation from God) save through being cleansed through the blood of Jesus.
I have on my blog at present a scene from ER where a dying man cries out to the chaplain (who has clearly been giving platitudes about the Gospel) " I need someone who will look me in the eye and tell me how to find forgiveness because I am running out of time!"
When that man realises that the only way to find forgiveness is through the cross of Jesus and clings to that fact and truly accepts him as Lord and Saviour, then he is different from the devil in his belief of Jesus.
Amen Michelle
ReplyDeletewell put Neil,
The word "believe" is definitely an "action" word! Kind of like, "put your money where your mouth is!" If you truly believe it, then let's see you put something of value into it. When we say we "believe" we should put something of value into it. Our very selves. We should lay aside all of our own ideas and follow the One who died for us. We should show that we are obedient to His Word.
We are studying James in Bible study and are beginning chapter two. Faith without works is dead!!!!
