After listening to Way of the Master radio this past week, I was amazed to hear about Bill Hybels and his admission of being wrong about all of those programs that his church has invested so much time in. Millions of dollars and countless hours were devoted to supposedly feeding the flock. You have to listen to this broadcast!
With the presidential elections just one year away, are you getting frustrated yet with all of the sidestepping of the issues that is going on? Not sure if Curly is planning on running for president (I know, he passed away a long time ago!), but he looks about as good as many of the candidates! I still do not know who I will be voting for. I am hoping someone comes along that will proclaim Jesus as Lord and Savior unashamedly! (and hopefully when they make that statement, it is the true Jesus and not the one that is a brother of Lucifer!).
And then we have this to look at for our community. A pastor has written a letter to the editor of the local newspaper, saying that it is the fault of the schools and the government for not allowing religion in school. He says it is little wonder why STD's are so high in our community. This comes from the same place that I heard him say that repentance is this -- "God looks down on us and we agree with His assessment of us." So, for a person who does not know that he has broken God's Law's and that he is headed for hell. All he has to do is say, "I agree with you God, I am a sinner!" Where is the turning from sin? Where is the becoming a new creature in Christ? Where is the part about being born-again? Yes, we can blame the schools and we can blame the government, but ultimately, it is the fault of those churches that have watered down the gospel. It is those churches that refuse to use God's Law (The Ten Commandments), to bring about the knowledge of sin. To use the Law as a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ. To use the Law to shut the mouth of the self-righteous person. They need to know that unless they repent, they will perish! They need to preach that even looking at another person to lust after them is a sin (adultery). They need to teach the girls in church that how they dress is immoral (just look at the way some of the teen girls dress in church and not just the teens, but some of their mothers dress the same way!) There is no modesty of dress. This letter came from just one of the pastor's who refused to support the revival in town here. As I said in my last post, the ministerial alliance here in town has cult members associated with it. This pastor has called on "all christians" (that includes mormons and JW's) to clearly define what they believe and then preach it. This is being said by one who seemingly has no problem with mormons being involved in the alliance. The church is very seeker friendly much like Rick Warren and Bill Hybels. Lest we offend anyone by preaching God's Word "with authority!!!!!" we will not make a change in this community! Please keep Galesburg, IL in your prayers.
